Material heritage
Through Artemani Surfaces, Marco’s knowledge of traditional Italian finishes has evolved through architectural practice in Aotearoa. Working across walls, interiors and bespoke details has shaped his attention to scale, colour and the behaviour of mineral materials.
His artworks and plinths grow from this experience, bringing techniques developed across expansive surfaces into smaller, more sculptural forms. An edge, a recess or a change in texture becomes a way of exploring the relationship between material, object and space.

Collaborations
This exploration continues through commissions and collaborations with private clients, collectors, interior designers, architects and galleries worldwide. Each project develops through conversation, connecting Marco’s material research with the setting, ideas and people the work is made for.
Based in Aotearoa New Zealand, we can arrange international shipping and discuss travel for projects. We also regularly visit Europe and welcome opportunities to connect and collaborate in person.
